Top baby girls’ names of 2022

It’s time to reveal the top baby girls’ names of 2022. We’ve combed through the data to give you a full report of the ups and downs of this year’s chart. Olivia fell from grace after being the most popular name in 2021, slipping two places to number three. Other falls in the top 10 came from Mia, which fell down two places to fifth, Isla, sliding down four places to number six and Sofia tumbling three to eighth. And new to the top 10 this year were Zoe and Ava which burst in at number seven and nine.
There were some new girls on the block this year as 13 newbies entered the rankings. Nora was the highest charting newcomer at number 53, and Charlie and Rosie managed to break into the 50s too at numbers 56 and 58 respectively. The other names new to the girls’ chart this year were Maisie, Mya, Pippa, Margot, Tilly, Indie, Adeline, Morgan, Rose and Elodie.
High climbers in the girls’ chart included two names jumping up more than 40 places! Elise was the biggest leap, skyrocketing 44 places to number 25. Elise was closely followed by Eloise which soared 43 places to number 35. And the names scaling the list didn’t stop there. Luna, Penelope, Quinn, Maeve, Imogen, Olive and Maggie all rose up 25 places or more.
Australia’s most popular girls’ names in 2022
There was a shift at the top in this year’s list! We saw a new name take the crown and lots of ups and downs too. Charlotte jumped three positions to take the coveted top spot as the most popular girls’ name in Australia and Amelia made an impressive leap up four places to take the second spot. Girls’ names falling in popularity in Australia
The 2022 girls’ names saw some monumental falls, with one name tumbling down half the chart! Remi slumped down a whopping 50 places to 100. But it wasn’t just Remi which saw a decline. Hayley was close behind, sinking 42 places to number 98. The other notable falls came from Daisy, Ayla, Jasmine and Alice which all fell by 30 places or more.+3
