Our dedicated team at BabyCenter has sweated over spreadsheets and crunched the numbers to reveal Australia's top 100 boys' baby names of 2019! We've also studied the movers and shakers in the chart to uncover which boys' names are hot, or not, with Australian parents in 2019.
Resolute Oliver has kept his crown for the amazing eighth year in a row – will he ever be dethroned? L names are in vogue. Leo finally cracked the top five, Lucas returned to the top five after a two-year absence, and cousin Luca charged into the top 10 for the first time.
William and Jackson were deposed from the top five, with Jackson slipping all the way out of the top 10, together with Mason.
Outside the top 10 is where the biggest dramas unfolded. After sliding for several years, Michael rose a stellar 40 places to number 56. Last year's newcomers Arthur and Ezra also made impressive gains, as did Louis, thanks to the prince's birth last year. Other notable risers were Muhammad and Theo.
Newcomer Kobe flew into number 67, together with a crop of other new names: Miles, Mateo, River, Leon and Christian.
After dipping out of the chart completely last year, Hamish, Owen, Dominic, Fletcher, Phoenix and Alex reappeared in the top 100 this year. Felix and Luke also made a surprise comeback after a two-year hiatus.
There was even more upheaval in the charts as last year's debutants Braxton and Alfie crashed out of the top 100. Zachary, Joseph, Adam, Dylan, Daniel and Ryder slid all the way out of the chart, and Nathan, Jake, Nicholas, Billy and Reuben yo-yoed out.
Outside the top 100, a handful of fresh names are gaining in popularity. Could Koa, Rafael, Roman, Chase and Cruz make it into the charts next year? And will Oliver relinquish his stranglehold on number one?
To capture true popularity, our exclusive baby name data combines names where the pronunciation is the same, but the spelling is different. Using the BabyCenter 'call it out at the playground' rule, we help you know exactly how popular each name is, even if parents choose to go with a creative spelling. For example, Mason and Mayson, or evergreen Aiden, which boasted nine variations in spelling!
Many of this year's parents are also favouring different spellings of some popular names, with Jaxon creeping closer to Jackson in popularity, and Kaiden a hair's breadth from usurping Kayden again.

Asher and Darcy fell the most dramatically, dropping out of favour with parents after being super-hot for the last two years. Nate and Ryan were also on the nose this year.
