How your life's changing

You're just a week or so away from the half-way mark. While you're waiting for your next antenatal appointment and scan, don't worry over things alone if you're feeling anxious. Call your doctor or midwife for reassurance, if you feel the need. In the next couple of weeks or so you'll probably have an anomaly scan, to check that all is well with how your baby is growing. Seeing your baby curled up inside you, or kicking or rolling, is immensely moving. If your partner is working, they may want to take time off so they can share this exciting moment. Many parents also like to ask the sonographer if they can see which sex their baby is at this scan.

If your pregnancy is problem-free, this may be your last chance to obtain a scan image for your baby's album. In a small number of cases though, the scan shows up problems. Even then, once a repeat scan has taken place, it often turns out all is well. Ultrasound scans are perfectly safe, so there's no need to worry on that count if you need extra scans during your pregnancy.

Bigger, more comfortable clothes are a must now. Treat yourself to a new pair of shoes also in a bigger size, your feet will swell along with your body, and pick a low heel for extra stability as your bump grows.
