Stopping breastfeeding 🤱
Hi everyone,
I am a first time mum here and would appreciate your opinion and suggestions regarding stopping breastfeeding after a year.
My son is 10 months old now and I am
planning to stop breastfeeding when is 1 year old and hopefully get ready slowly for second pregnancy.
I have read alot about it online but still thought it is a good idea to ask you all and read your experience or suggestions.
How have you done it or planning to do it?
He has been on demand from birth and fed to sleep too.
I am all ears and appreciating your time 🙏🏻💕

- Hello, I think at a year it becomes easier as the recommendation is food first and then milk. So big breakfast first thing in the morning and out for the day then lunch and water so try cutting out one or two feeds at a time. The overnight feeds (if your still feeding overnight you could always get your partner to step in to help break the cycle (Fri- Sun) and offer water and a resettle. Good luck!
- gLast edited 29-09-24Hi Carolyn, The comment above had some great tips - but I found this article to be helpful when doing my own research. https://www.pigeonbaby.com.au/blogs/baby-hub/breastfeeding-to-bottle#:~:text=Recommended%20baby%20bottles%20and%20teats%20for%20breastfed%20babies&text=Bottles%20with%20a%20wide%20neck,mimic%20the%20mother's%20breast%20shape. Trying different teats (that mimic the breast in the way they feel) and gradually working up to a higher flow should help. Try and introduce slowly, but be persistent. Good luck!
